Homeopathy

One area of my naturopathic studies that I really fell in love with at college (other than herbal medicine) was homeopathy.

Homeopathy can address so many facets of an individual’s health and I have personally experienced profound healing using homeopathic remedies.

So, what exactly is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a holistic system of complementary medicine that is based on the principle of ‘like treats like’, otherwise known as the ‘Law of Similars’. What this means is remedies are used to treat health complaints that, in crude amounts, would elicit similar symptoms in a healthy person.

This philosophy promotes using minute doses of diluted, potentised forms of natural substances to provide a therapeutic stimulus to prompt the body’s own healing response to address health issues.

Much like naturopathic principles, homeopathy aims to treat holistically, investigating all areas of an individual’s life in order to treat the whole person.

This means taking into account not only a person’s health presentation, vitality and history of disease, but also their personality, mental/emotional factors, lifestyle and hereditary factors and investigates the unique aspects of a person’s case to determine the most similar remedy and provide truly individualised treatment.

What I really love about homeopathy is its ability to address not only the physical presentation of one’s health, but the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects too. Investigating the root cause of a person’s health complaint/s and addressing it at that level, eliciting profound healing and improved quality of life.

There are a plethora of conditions that homeopathy can support, including allergies, skin complaints, respiratory infections, digestive issues, menstrual difficulties, UTI’s, insomnia, grief and anxiety.
